What is Lorem ipsum?
It’s dummy text that designers and developers use to fill layouts before the real copy is ready. It looks like ordinary text in word length and rhythm, but its meaning doesn’t distract — so it’s easier to judge the typeface, line spacing and layout.
The words come from Cicero’s De finibus bonorum et malorum (45 BC), scrambled and altered so they can’t be read as Latin. The “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…” passage has been used by typesetters since at least the 1960s and became standard with desktop publishing software.

Should I use real text instead? Often, yes — realistic copy shows how headings wrap and how long words behave. Lorem ipsum is handy when you need neutral text that nobody will try to read or proofread.
Is it OK to leave Lorem ipsum on a live site? Better not: search engines see such pages as thin content, and visitors see them as unfinished.
