How to use

Example

October 20, 2026, 9:00 AM in New York:

Daylight saving time

DST rules come from your browser’s time zone database (the IANA tz database), so differences change automatically when clocks go forward or back. The US and Europe switch on different dates, so for a few weeks a year the gap between New York and London is 4 hours instead of 5.

On the day clocks change, some times don’t exist (in spring the clock jumps forward) and some happen twice (in fall). For a nonexistent time the converter uses the time after the change; for a repeated one, the first occurrence.

FAQ

What is UTC? Coordinated Universal Time — the reference point for all time zones. New York is UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 in summer.

Is GMT the same as UTC? For everyday purposes, yes. London uses GMT (UTC+0) in winter and BST (UTC+1) in summer.

How do I convert a Unix timestamp? Use the Unix timestamp converter. To add hours to a time, use the time calculator.
